When it’s time for a new water heater, many homeowners take on the task themselves. Watch a few YouTube videos, make a trip to Lowe’s
, call your neighbor to help you out … what could go wrong?
Actually, plenty. Check out this video of a “water heater bomb” from
the show
Mythbusters.
Aside from exploding through your roof, an incorrectly installed water heater can cause fire, floods, or even deaths, including unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning.
Oh yeah, and it’s the law. The State of Texas requires that the replacement of water heaters be completed by a licensed plumber who pulls the required plumbing
permit
. Both the City of College Station and the City of Bryan require permits.
And finally, any work completed without a permit has the potential to create difficulties for you when it comes time to sell your home. You can avoid
all of
these problems with a simple call to a licensed plumber.
Here are some plumbers we recommend to our clients when they are buying or selling their home – or just looking for help with maintenance and repairs.
